Hey Husker fans, want to hear some good news from last Saturday’s game against Missouri?

I stayed home to watch the game and therefore got a pretty good night’s sleep.

Oh yeah, and two of our panelists — Jeffrey Hill, M.D., and Robert Zatechka, M.D. — moved their Husker Pick’em records to 4-1 after calling for the Tigers to beat the Cornhuskers.

To be fair, our other panelists, UNMC’s Lisa Runco and her teammate, ex-Husker star Chad Kelsay, did preface their prediction for an NU win by saying they were going with their hearts over their heads.

So did Mizzou’s 52-17 thrashing of the Huskers rip the collective heart out of Team Runco/Kelsay, who are now 3-2? Will they, for the first this time season pick against their Cornhuskers for Saturday’s matchup against Texas Tech? Or will their red blood embolden them to pick the 20 ½ point underdog Huskers to pull the upset in Lubbock?

Runco and Kelsay say: “Although it absolutely kills us to do so, this week the Kelsay/Runco team has to go against our beloved Huskers. Although the defense seems to be figuring some things out, the offense appears to have lost its identity a bit. You can’t play high-scoring teams like Missouri and Texas Tech without being able to score a lot of points yourself.” Texas Tech 38, NU 21

Dr. Zatechka says: “While Missouri beat Nebraska with flawless execution and exceptional talent, look for Texas Tech to run an offense that, due to style of system, could be even harder to defend. Tech runs a spread that is similar to the Tigers, but is coached by one of the offense’s originators in Mike Leach. While the passing numbers threaten to be obscene, look for the Red Raiders to run effectively as well. Tech’s defense is much improved under a second year coordinator with strong linebacker play. Being that this one’s on the road, look for it to get ugly as NU picks up their third loss.” Texas Tech 63, NU 28

Dr. Hill says: “It was not pretty last week. It will not be pretty this week. Our pass defense needs work and our running game has disappeared. The buzz around Lincoln that preceeded this season is quieting.” Texas Tech 45, NU 24
