You want to know how much I love UNMC?
So much so that I’d dress up like a gnome and let my good friend Andrew Nelson manipulate my image in such a way that video now exists of a one-foot tall version of me professing my love for UNMC from the top of a water cooler. (Click here to see the video.)
When I walk around campus these days I’m met with comments such as, “You’ve grown a bit since I saw you last,” or “I liked you better as a gnome.”

Love, laughter and other good feelings about the medical center are what we’re after during the “I Love UNMC” video contest for faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends of UNMC.
To enter the contest, simply submit a roughly two-minute video that explains why you love UNMC. We’ve already received one submission, which can be found at one of the Web sites listed in the box to the right.
And you’re not just doing this for the good of the team. Random prize drawings will be held throughout the contest, and anyone who has submitted an entry is eligible to win. These are some pretty sweet prizes, too. Click here to see what I mean.
The top 10 most viewed videos as of Jan. 30, 2009, will advance as finalists for the Viewer’s Choice, 1st, 2nd and 3rd runner-up prizes.
So what do you love about UNMC? Film it and send it in. Don’t stress too much about video quality, we’ll take any kind of video, even those you shoot from your cell phones and digital cameras.
The video doesn’t have to be long and it need not include gnomes, although I know one who works for food, coffee and tickets to local sporting events. Call 559-8329 to inquire about the gnome’s availability.
