UNMC has updated its community outreach database to better track its various outreach activities throughout the state.

All UNMC employees now have access to the database and they are encouraged to report extracurricular services and activities that their units undertake that benefit Nebraska.

Examples of such activities include clinic or patient care services in outlying communities, distance education, community service, continuing education for the state’s health care workers and research in communities beyond the campus.

“We often say that UNMC has a 500-mile wide campus. This database is a way for us to quantify our reach across the state of Nebraska,” said Jill Carson, marketing specialist in public affairs and coordinator of the project.

The database can be accessed at https://app1.unmc.edu/outreach/programs/index.cfm. Employees can log on to the database using their Lotus Notes usernames and passwords.

UNMC tracks outreach activities for various purposes including providing government officials information about what the medical center does to help communities throughout the state.

Currently, the database is meant to track outreach activities in Nebraska only, and by each fiscal year.
