UNMC says Steelers to pick up ring No. 6

The UNMC community has spoken and deemed the Pittsburgh Steelers as their choice to win Sunday’s Super Bowl.

The campus community favored the Steelers over the Arizona Cardinals by a count of 13 to 8.

Here are some comments from members of the UNMC community regarding Sunday’s game.

“The Steelers have to win because Grandma and her 12-year-old grandson are having a Steelers Super Bowl party all by ourselves. He’s a fan. I have book and a DVR for commercials in case boredom sets in.” — Mary Vogel, office associate I in the department of family medicine.

“Steelers 38, Cardinals 7 — I’m afraid this could be one of the dullest Super Bowls in history. The Steeler defense is too good.” — Tom O’Connor, senior associate director of public affairs

“The Cardinals will win the Super Bowl this year!” — Connie Ricchini, ancillary with UNMC Physicians.

“The Steelers D will show (Larry) Fitzgerald and the Cardinal receivers what getting hit feels like. They also will show (Arizona quarterback) Kurt Warner that the NFL is no place for old men.” — Jimmy Talaska, research technologist in the Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope Core Facility.

“I predict that I will eat too many chips, drink too much beer and yell too loudly at the tv. … Oh, you wanted a score prediction. Um, Cardinals 20, Steelers 14. Take that to the bank! “ — Nicole Lindquist, public affairs. (EDITOR’S NOTE: It should be noted that the last time Lindquist made a public prediction regarding a football game, things didn’t go so well for the team she picked to win.)

“The Steelers will shut down (Cardinals wide receivers) Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin, which means Arizona will need to be able to run the ball to win. They will have limited success doing that and the Steelers will control the clock, winning a dull game by a 17-9 score. Nevertheless, I am rooting for Kurt Warner to prove me wrong!” — Mike Gleason, Cancer Research Graduate Program.
