Wellness Wednesday – Expresso yourself during CFHL bike challenge

The competition runs March 4-5 and pits UNMC against other Omaha area businesses in a contest to see who can log the most miles on Expresso exercise bicycles.

Chuckles the Gnome logs a few miles on his mini Expresso exercise bicycle. UNMC employees are asked to come to the Center for Healthy Living on March 4 and 5 to log miles on full-size Expresso bikes as part of a challenge sponsored by the Wellness Council of the Midlands and Nova Health and Fitness Company.

UNMC has two Expresso bikes in the Center for Healthy Living. They are computerized exercise bikes that provide simulated routes for riders to travel while they work out.

The routes range from a flat race track and wooded trails to what CFHL fitness specialist Peter Pellerito called “a funky space trail” where you can ride your bike among the stars.

All employees — regardless of whether they have CFHL memberships — are welcome to stop in and take a spin on the bikes and also use the center’s other equipment and resources.

“We’re basically having an open house those days so those who come ride the bikes also can work out and see what the center has to offer,” Pellerito said. “I encourage everyone to come out and ride the Expresso bikes. They are fun and very entertaining. This should be a fun challenge!”

Employees can participate during the center’s normal hours, which are 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. on both days.
