Blood drive to feature spring fever theme

Typically, the Red Cross will send you home if you try to donate blood with a fever.

But if it’s just a case of spring fever, well, then you’ll be perfectly welcome to donate during the April 2 blood drive at the Center for Health Living.

As of Monday morning, more than 60 slots remained open for the drive, which will be sponsored by the House Officers Association Alliance and will feature a “Spring Fever” theme.

The drive will run from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the goal is to collect 71 units of blood.

Those who give blood will be treated to iced lemonades from Maragarita Magic. Bruegger’s Bagels will be available for those who give in the morning and Jimmy John’s will bring in sandwiches for late morning and early afternoon donors.

Spring-themed door prizes also will be distributed at various times throughout the drive.

The Red Cross has an electronic scheduling system that will be used for this drive. Those wishing to donate can schedule appointments at http://givebloodgivelife.org.
