Wellness Wednesday — take UNO classes at UNMC

picture disc.University of Nebraska at Omaha film history and public speaking courses will be offered on the UNMC campus this fall for the convenience of medical center employees who wish to advance their education.

UNO classes at UNMC



The following UNO courses will be available at UNMC this fall:

BRCT 1050: Film History and Appreciation — Wednesdays from 5 to 7:50 p.m. in Bennett Hall, Room 2020. The course will be taught by Michael Krainak and will:

  • Examine aesthetic values of the motion picture;
  • Explore the history of the film; and
  • Survey the elements involved.

SPCH 1110: Public Speaking Fundamentals — Thursdays from 5 to 7:50 p.m. in Bennett Hall, Room 2020. The course will be taught by Angela Miller and will focus on:

  • Basic principles of audience adaptation,
  • Invention,
  • Organization,
  • Development of ideas, and
  • Presentation of speeches and the critical analysis of oral presentations.

Each student will design and present a minimum of four public speeches.

Both courses are worth three credit hours.




Full-time, regular employees can take advantage of the Employee Scholarship Program, which allows employees to take up to 15 credit hours per academic year at any University of Nebraska campus, to cover the cost of the classes.

To register for any of these classes, employees must apply and enroll as a UNO students. To apply, go to UNO’s Web site and click on the Prospective Student tab.

Once the admissions process is complete, employees will be given an E-BRUNO account, which is where they will register for classes. The fall class schedule is currently available on E-BRUNO.
