Two Sun Belt Conference opponents and two easy wins have left the Cornhuskers and our panelists with perfect 2-0 records.

Things get trickier this week as the Huskers head to Blacksburg, Va., to take on No. 14 Virginia Tech. Could we have our first taste of dissension among our panelists, who to this point have been unanimous in their confidence in the Huskers? Read below and find out.

Jeff Hill, M.D., associate dean for admissions and student affairs in the College of Medicine, says, “This game will tell us a lot about our defense. But with home field advantage, a strong running game and savvy quarterback, Virginia Tech will likely be too much for the Huskers.” Virginia Tech 27, NU 24

Team Runco/Kelsay, which is composed of UNMC administrator and Husker Superfan, Lisa Runco, and former Husker Chad Kelsay, say, “We asked our friend and huge Husker fan, Doug Law (attorney for Black Hills Energy and President of the Omaha Chapter of the UNL Alumni Club) to help out this week. Virginia Tech quarterback Tyrod Taylor scares us a little with what he’s capable of doing to any defense. However, we’re confident that NU’s Ndamukong Suh will show us why he’s an All-American candidate and that we’ll see enough of coach Bo Pelini’s defensive scheme unveiled to keep the Hokies off balance and off the field. We’re also confident that (NU offensive coordinator) Shawn Watson will keep us in the right situations.” NU 28, Virginia Tech 24

Anesthesiology instructor Rob Zatechka, M.D., says, “Ever the optimist, I really like NU’s chances. Looking at last year’s game, Nebraska put on one of their all-time sloppiest performances. And yet, at the end, they were one or two plays from winning the game. Yes, I know Lane Stadium is considered one of the toughest venues in college football, still, I think if NU can play relatively mistake free football, they’ll pull this one out.” NU 31, Virginia Tech 20
