Dr. Dunman to speak on the importance of lab notebooks

Paul Dunman, Ph.D., assistant professor in the department of pathology and microbiology, will discuss the importance of keeping accurate lab notebooks during a seminar today that is part of UNeMed’s Innovation Week activities.

“Laboratory notebooks are arguably the single most important resource researchers have available to them,” Dr. Dunman said. “They serve as an essential link to the past, substantiate intellectual property, and quite frankly define what percent of your time will likely be spent moving forward versus spinning your wheels.

Using laboratory notebooks as a means to connect the dots, Dr. Dunman’s team was able to discover a new class of antibiotics that may address Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

Dr. Dunman’s seminar starts at 1:30 p.m. in the Durham Research Center, Room 1004. Refreshments will be served and free laboratory notebooks will be issued to all in attendance, complements of UNeMed Corporation.
