Happy Thursday Game Day, Husker and Tiger fans!

Speaking of Tiger fans, we found one and let him weigh in on tonight’s game in Columbia, Mo.

Ward Chambers, M.D., coordinator of UNMC’s International Health and Medical Education program, received a bachelor’s degree from Missouri in 1967.

Dr. Chambers — who has Tiger season football tickets and will attend tonight’s game — will serve as this season’s first guest panelist.

Panelists records

Through four games, our panelists rank as such:

  • Jeff Hill, M.D., 4-0
  • Team Runco/Kelsay (Lisa Runco and Chad Kelsay), 3-1
  • Rob Zatechka, M.D., 3-1

Let’s see how he and our other panelists see tonight’s tilt playing out.

Dr. Chambers says, “Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert has been awfully good so far this year and Mizzou’s receivers are coming along. Nebraska has a very young secondary and I think Mizzou’s going to be able to score. The home crowd and the fact that the game is at night gives the Tigers the edge in what will be a very close game.” Mizzou 24, NU 21

Rob Zatechka, M.D., says, “MU’s strong offense has been reminiscent of years past with Blaine Gabbert showing better promise as a passer than Chase Daniel. MU has given up a lot of rushing yards that has kept opponents in the game. But Mizzou always seems to get fired up for the Huskers, so expect a dog fight.” NU 31, Mizzou 24

Jeff Hill, M.D., says, “My inside sources tell me the Huskers are quietly very confident. The word of the day for the game is ‘blitz, blitz, blitz!’ Blaine Gabbert is slow and stays in the pocket. Nebraska’s running game will do some damage.” NU 35, Mizzou 21

Team Runco/Kelsay say, “We believe with almost two weeks to prepare, the Huskers will be ready to go, and have a good game plan. In spite of what is sure to be a hostile, rowdy crowd, we are really thinking it will be a Husker win.” NU 23, Mizzou 20

  1. Mike Berney says:

Missouri's offense has not yet seen a blitzing defense like Nebraska will put on them Thursday night. Blaine Gabbert will be put on his rear more then a few times. The wet rainy weather that is expected will take away the passing game from Gabbert and be in Nebraska's favor.
