They eyes of Texas are upon Nebraska after the Cornhuskers beat Colorado last week — a result that all three of our panelists predicted.

As such, our panelists’ records are now:

  • Jeff Hill, M.D., 9-3
  • Team Runco/Kelsay (Lisa Runco and Chad Kelsay), 8-4
  • Rob Zatechka, M.D., 8-4

So on to the big question: Do the Huskers stand a chance against the heavily favored Texas Longhorns during Saturday night’s Big 12 Championship game?

Or will Colt McCoy and Texas simply be too strong for NU?

Our panelists weigh in below.

Dr. Hill says, “Even though we finished strong, there are concerns about the offense. Texas is red hot. I think we will play them hard and show strong defense, but in the end there is too much fire power on their side.” Texas 31, NU 14

Team Runco/Kelsay says, “We’re really pulling for a big upset, but we do think their offense is good enough to put some points up against our defense. Colt McCoy is great and he seems to find ways to win. We are most concerned about his ability to get out of the pocket and hurt us with his legs. We also are very concerned about our offense’s ability to do much at all. Texas’ defense is very good. We do like Rex Burkhead being back in the lineup but we just don’t believe we’ll be able to consistently move the ball, and our defense will be working overtime.” Texas 20, NU 10

Dr. Zatechka says, “To quote Dumb and Dumber’s Lloyd Christmas, ‘So you’re saying there’s a chance?’ NU does have a shot but they’ll need a little help. The Texas defense that gave up more than 30 point to Texas A&M and the offense that only scored 14 against Oklahoma will need to be present. Couple that with the NU defense that essentially won games against Mizzou and Oklahoma, and NU has a legit shot to be in this game. Ever the optimist, I’m picking NU over Texas in a shocker.” NU 20, Texas 10
