Register for e2Campus alert — it can save lives

UNMC employees and students are strongly encouraged to register for the e2Campus security system, which would quickly alert them should a shooting, tornado or other life-threatening development occur on campus.

No spam

The e2Campus system only will be used in the case of emergencies, not in the distribution of routine campus announcements or advertisements.

In the case of a life-threatening situation on campus — e2Campus would simultaneously send subscribers alerts via:
  • Text messages;
  • E-mails;
  • Voicemails; and/or
  • Pages.

“The e2Campus system is the most powerful tool we have to notify people in the case of life-threatening incidents on campus,” said John Hauser, UNMC’s safety manager. “It reaches people wherever they are. I can’t urge people strongly enough to subscribe to this service.

“It’s a life-saving investment.”

Employees, log onto http:ess.unmc.edu to register.

Active shooter policy

UNMC Personal Preparedness Week continues Wednesday as UNMC Today features an item on the medical center’s new active shooter policy.

Students, register at http://care.unmc.edu or via Blackboard.

  • Access to Internet with Web browser;
  • Text paging device; and/or

You can manage your e2Campus account online and update your device or contact information.

You would have to pay the cost for a text message should such an event occur but the cost of a message should only add about 10 cents to your cellular phone bill.
