2010 United Way drive – up for a little competition?

Win NU-Texas tickets

No doubt some of you noticed that among the list of possible prizes in this year’s weekly prize drawings were tickets to the Oct. 16 Nebraska-Texas football game. Tickets to this game are going for hundreds of dollars right now. They could be yours simply by participating in the drive.

UNMC’s 2010 United Way campaign kicks off on Monday.

The past few years, we’ve been able to achieve our campus donation goal, which this year is $143,094.

Where we’ve fallen woefully short is in our participation goal.

Every year we set a goal of 100 percent campus participation. We’ve struggled to crack 40 percent.

Participation doesn’t equate to donation

When you get your United Way e-mail Monday morning, you will be given the option not to donate — choosing not to donate counts as participation.

And, if you participate, even if it means you click the “no donation option,” you:

  • Help UNMC reach its participation goal; and
  • Qualify to win prizes in the drawings held weekly during the drive.

Unit contest

To add a little spice on the participation front, every day during the campaign, UNMC Today will rank the campus units and show their participation percentage.

The unit with the highest participation percentage on the drive’s last day — Oct. 22 — wins.

We have nothing to offer but bragging rights but we have a feeling that may be enough.

And if it isn’t … well … see the sidebar on the right.
