What to make of the Cornhuskers?

What to make of Thursday night football games? (EDITOR’S NOTE: The Huskers are 6-0 on Thursday nights.)

As ugly as it was, the Huskers did get the win over South Dakota State last time out. And our panelists, Jeffrey Hill, M.D., Lisa Runco and Chad Kelsay and Kyle Ringenberg, M.D., all called for Nebraska wins. So they and NU are 4-0 as the Huskers start Big 12 Conference play tonight in Manhattan, Kan.

Let’s see what the panelists have to say about tonight’s game.

Dr. Hill says, “We now start a five-game run with meaning. K-State will be tough but the Huskers are ready. It’s a TV game and will be good exposure. Our weak game is behind us.” NU 31, Kansas State 17

Team Runco/Kelsay says, “On the one hand, we think we’re going to be in a dog fight and on the other hand we’re thinking a Husker blow out. K-State will play hard at home, but we don’t think they have a solid squad overall. NU’s ability to shut down the run consistently causes us a little concern, but we’re putting faith in the Pelinis that we’ll have a game plan that will shut down the KSU run. We think NU quarterback Taylor Martinez is going to come back strong after his poor showing against South Dakota State.” NU 27, Kansas State 13

Dr. Ringenberg says, “I’m expecting that the SDSU game left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth — players, coaches and fans alike. I expect NU will produce their A game. There is much concern in the media about NU’s ability to stop a straight ahead run game like KSU possesses. I don’t buy that and I feel NU will own the line of scrimmage. Look for KSU to throw several wrinkles that they haven’t shown to this point.” NU 33, Kansas State 14

    Go Huskers!!
    NU 27, K State 17

  2. Mike Berney says:

Huskers will have a strong game in front of National T.V. exposure. The defense will come on strong putting pressure on KSU quarterback forcing turnovers in favor of the Huskers. Nebraska 38 KSU 24.
