Staffers visited the Home Instead Center for the Successful Aging on southeast edge of the campus, the Munroe-Meyer Institute in the northwest corner and many points in between.

Wearing white coats like those sported by many medical center students, Bob Bartee, vice chancellor for external affairs, urged the staffers to ask lots of questions while they visited various spots on campus.

Aside from the tours, the staffers also heard from Bartee, Mark Bowen, director of government relations, and others about some of the health care issues that face the state and some of the newest developments at UNMC.

“We’re grateful for the opportunity to spend time with the legislative staffers and to provide them with a snapshot of how UNMC affects the quality of life of Nebraskans through our world-class programs,” Bartee said. “The staffers work hard on behalf of the state’s residents and we ask them to view UNMC as a resource to aid them in their work.

“This visit demonstrates to them the depth and breadth of those resources.”
