Spirit Week 2010 – Values of a vital brand

Two years ago as UNMC started its branding process, people from on and off campus were surveyed about their thoughts of the medical center.

In this process, four values emerged as descriptive of UNMC:

  • Leadership
  • Commitment to excellence
  • Working together
  • A trusted resource

These are UNMC’s brand values and they help power the medical center in its vital mission of research, education, outreach and patient care.

Below, we profile four individuals and groups who embody our brand values.

Leadership

Faculty members from the Colleges of Medicine and Public Health combine their expertise to fight pulmonary diseases at several levels, ranging from individual patient care to the study of environmental and societal factors that contribute to the diseases.

Trusted resource

  • Name: McGoogan Library’s Consumer Health Information Resource Service (CHIRS)

    picture disc.

Librarians such as Teri Hartman, right, work hard to make the McGoogan Library’s Consumer Health Information Resource Service (CHIRS) a powerful tool for Nebraskans and others who seek health information.

  • Vital contribution: Through CHIRS, UNMC’s medical librarians provide patients and their loved ones vital health information about diagnosis and treatment options. After a request, patients receive a packet of information tailored to their health needs. Fast and free, CHIRS helps Nebraskans get the health information they need.

  1. Jerrie Dayton says:

The CHIRS resource is wonderful. I have used the service on several occasions and always found exactly the information I needed with CHIRS assistance. I am surprised by the number of people on campus who are unaware of this valuable resource.
