These PENguins will be back in the Nebraska Cafe today registering people and taking donations for this weekend’s Skate-a-thon for Parkinson’s.
Members of a rare penguin species — known as PENguins — were in the the Nebraska Cafe on Wednesday registering folks and taking donations for this weekend’s UNMC Skate-a-thon for Parkinson’s.

Some of the proceeds from the event will support the Parkinson’s research of the PENguins leader, Howard Gendelman, M.D., chairman of the UNMC Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Neuroscience (the PEN in PENguins).

The PENguins will again be in the cafe today as they look to register more folks for the event, which kicks off tomorrow at 6 p.m. at the UNMC Ice Rink.

  1. Howard Gendelman says:

Amongst the greatest joys we feel in our work place is in those that surround us. Sharing the destination of enabling a "real time difference or cure" for Parkinson's disease is a hard fought journey that we share together. Our scientists for sure deserve much but it is the administrative staff members who day in and day out support all our efforts are our unsung heroes. Just want to say thanks for taking this event to another level for us all.
