Faculty support sought for Service Learning Project

Those interested in providing supervision and getting involved should contact project president Brady Fickenscher at rmargalit@unmc.edu or IP-SLA director Ruth Margalit, M.D., at rmargalit@unmc.edu.

The Douglas County Department of Corrections (DCDC) STD Service Learning Project seeks more faculty support.

The project is run by an interprofessional student group that is supported by the Interprofessional Service Learning Academy of the College of Public Health.

The project provides education, testing and treatment for inmates at the DCDC in Omaha.

Participants work in collaboration with the jail leadership and provide the treatment under the supervision of licensed UNMC providers.
