Memorial service for Dr. Pamies set for March 14

A public memorial service for Rubens Pamies, M.D., vice chancellor for academic affairs and dean of graduate studies, will be held Monday, March 14 at 10 a.m. in the Joslyn Art Museum’s Witherspoon Hall.

Rubens Pamies, M.D.
Dr. Pamies died Feb. 26 of an apparent heart attack in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He was 52.

The ceremony will feature comments from:

  • UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D.;
  • Mike Yanney, president, Building Bright Futures;
  • The Honorable Louis Sullivan, M.D., chairman, Sullivan Alliance and the Virginia-Nebraska Alliance and former secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services;
  • Bob Whitehouse, chairman, University of Nebraska Board of Regents;
  • J.B. Milliken, president, University of Nebraska;
  • Ben Gray, Omaha City Council;
  • David Crouse, Ph.D., interim vice chancellor for academic affairs and interim dean for graduate studies, UNMC;
  • Jo Giles, diversity specialist, UNMC;
  • Jeremy Peterson, UNMC student regent; and
  • Tim Clark, president, 100 Black Men of Omaha.

A reception will follow the service in the fountain court outside of Witherspoon Hall.
