What is your best memory from your time at UNMC?

Working with Dr. Bruce Buehler is just one of many great memories I have of my time at UNMC. I could not have asked for a better person to work with or a better mentor for me at that time. His teaching talents, his leadership style, the overall confidence he exhibits with any team that has the honor of working with him should be held as a model for all to achieve.

Our four brand values are leadership, commitment to excellence, working together and being a trusted resource. Pick one and tell us a time you witnessed it embodied at UNMC.

The leadership of this campus obviously shows everywhere you look with all the exciting new programs, growth and construction. The work that goes on at UNMC on a daily basis is truly amazing. UNMC is a wonderful place to work and I am very proud to be a small part of the team.

List three things people may not know about you.

  • My mother was the lead singer in a “Country and Western” band when I was growing up so I was raised listening to the really old time country music. … I like a lot of different music but when Pasty Cline comes on, I have to stop and listen.
  • It must have been listening to all the old country music that started me playing the fiddle. I started playing in the fifth grade. I haven’t played for a while but every now and then I still get my fiddle/violin out and mess with it. It’s not pretty.
  • Horses have always been my true passion. In 2004, I started showing cutting horses. … That year I won the National Cutting Horse Association Championship novice class.

Congrats on winning at the National Cutting Horse Association Championship! That is an honor. I used to show barrel horses and since it cost so much to show we do local jackpots and I team rope with my Uncle, Dad, and husband when we get time away from our feedyard! I love hearing about other horse people! =) Jackie
