AAMC education group to hold annual meeting on campus this week

The Association of American Medical Colleges’ (AAMC) Central Group of Education Affairs (CGEA) will hold its annual meeting on the UNMC campus this week.

More than 200 representatives from 37 schools of medicine in the Midwest will attend the meeting — which runs Thursday through Saturday — to discuss ways to improve the delivery of all levels of medical education.

“The meeting annually serves as a great opportunity to discuss issues and solutions to the situations medical educators face,” said Gary Beck, instructor and clerkship administrator in the department of pediatrics and program chair for the CGEA.

The meeting will be held in the Sorrell Center and feature peer-reviewed presentations — including some by UNMC faculty members — focused on some of the major issues that face medical educators.

UNMC last hosted the meeting in 2004.

Those interested in attending the meeting can register online or at the door during the conference.
