Among the academic and administrative appointments he has held during his tenure at NU are Professor of Physics, Associate Dean of the UNL College of Arts and Sciences, Director of the UNL University Studies Program, Assistant then Associate Executive Vice President and Provost, and Corporation Secretary to the Board of Regents.

His last day will be April 5. I hope you’ll join me in thanking Donal for his many years of service and dedication to the University of Nebraska and wishing him and his wife Ileana a long and happy retirement.

After consultation with the Board of Regents, I have asked Carmen K. Maurer, Associate General Counsel for the University of Nebraska, to serve as Interim Corporation Secretary.

Carmen joined the General Counsel’s Office in 1991, and is the attorney primarily assigned to provide legal services related to intercollegiate athletics.

She also has practiced in the areas of general university law, tax law, corporate sponsorships and licensing, personnel and student law, discrimination law, affirmative action and diversity, regulatory compliance, and gifts, wills, trusts and endowments.

In addition to her Juris Doctorate degree from Creighton University School of Law, Carmen also passed the Certified Public Accountants exam. As of April 6, she will add new responsibilities as the secretary to the Board of Regents, while continuing to serve as a part-time staff attorney.

Please congratulate and wish her well in her new role.
