What’s in store for National Public Health Week

Below are some things employees should look for next week as UNMC and the College of Public Health commemorate National Public Health Week.

Mark your calendars, UNMC will open the Harold M. and Beverly Maurer Center for Public Health on Wednesday, May 18 at 11 a.m. More information about the opening will be published soon in UNMC Today.




Monday

College of Public Health faculty, staff and students will join members of the Omaha community at a Monday breakfast to discuss ways to reduce violence and increase safety in the city’s neighborhoods. The breakfast starts at 9 a.m. at Big Mama’s Kitchen (3223 N. 45th St.). To RSVP, contact Leah Frerichs at leah.frerichs@unmc.edu.

Wednesday

Sara Rosenbaum, professor of health services management and policy and chairwoman of the department of health policy at the School of Public Health and Health Services at George Washington University, will present “But is it Legal? The Constitution and the Quest For a National Health Policy” at noon in the Eppley Science Hall Amphitheater. The seminar will be broadcast live online.
