Al Washko, Department of Veterans Affairs Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System director, retired Friday after leading the health care system since July 2003.
Nancy Gregory is the acting director until a permanent director is appointed.
Also, Thomas Lynch, M.D., professor of surgery and chief of vascular surgery at UNMC, has been named the system’s chief of staff.
Dr. Lynch was appointed acting chief of staff in January 2009 and served in this role since.
