Earth Week at the medical center will be composed of a five-day series of events that focus on topics such as:
  • Waste reduction and recycling;
  • Alternative transportation;
  • Energy conservation; and
  • Healthy and sustainable food.

Campus Earth Week events include:

  • Tuesday, April 19 — Alternative Commute-to-Work Day. Use alternative transportation such as the bus, a bike, carpooling or even walking to get to work. If you do try a different way of getting to work — let us know at livegreen@unmc.edu.
  • Wednesday, April 20 — Sodexo will be stationed outside the University Tower and Clarkson Tower cafeterias during the lunch hours to provide information about the sustainable practices that it is engaging in to improve its food service operations and offerings.
  • Thursday, April 21 — Household electronics recycling event. Bring your old/obsolete household electronic equipment to General Supply (41st Street between Emile and Leavenworth) between 7 and 9 a.m. or 3 and 5 p.m. to have them be safely recycled or remanufactured. Learn more about this event.

Also, throughout the entire week — UNMC and The Nebraska Medical Center will face off in a pledge challenge to see which organization can raise participation percentages the most in their respective green pledge programs. Take the LiveGreen pledge next week and help UNMC top the hospital.
