Describe your research in laymen’s terms.
We explore how the autonomic nervous functions are impaired in some clinical diseases such as heart failure and diabetes.
How does your research contribute to science and/or health care?
Heart failure and diabetes are chronic progressive diseases that usually cannot be cured. Cardiovascular autonomic dysfunction increases the risk for patients with heart failure or diabetes. Our research offers new information about the mechanisms responsible for the cardiovascular autonomic dysfunction and provides potential therapeutic strategies to improve the prognosis for patients with heart failure and diabetes.
