More than 4,600 pounds of old computers and other used household electronics were collected at last week’s “e-waste collection event.”
During the Earth Week “e-waste collection” on April 21, employees and students at UNMC and The Nebraska Medical Center jointly collected more than 4,651 pounds of old/obsolete electronic equipment to be safely recycled or remanufactured.

Employees and students prevented more than 7,560 pounds of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere, which is equivalent to saving approximately 1,280 gallons of gasoline from being consumed.

If you were unable to make it to the e-waste event, you can still contact General Supply to schedule a time to drop off your items. They collect personal electronics for recycling year round; UNMC items still need to have a surplus form. For more information contact General Supply or go to http://www.unmc.edu/livegreen
