Nurse midwives the focus of tonight’s Lincoln Science Cafe

At tonight’s Lincoln Science Cafe, Karen McGivney-Liechti, a certified nurse midwife with Heart and Hands Womancare at the People’s Health Center, and Barbara Sittner, Ph.D., an assistant professor in the UNMC College of Nursing, will discuss the role of nurse midwives in healthy pregnancies.

When: 6:30 p.m.

Where: red9, 9th and M streets, Lincoln

What: The discussion will focus on the The CenteringPregnancy® model program, which is associated with a lower incidence of low birth weight babies and preterm births as well as higher breastfeeding rates.

About Science Cafe: Science Cafe is a free educational event sponsored by UNMC and other groups to increase science literacy. Hosted by UNMC, Bio Nebraska and the Nebraska Coalition for Lifesaving Cures, Science Cafes are held the first Tuesday of each month in Omaha and one Thursday every other month in Lincoln.
