Thursday’s concert is sponsored by the UNMC’s Office of the Chancellor in support with UNMC’s Center for Continuing Education and the UNMC Human Resources Department.

He also was considered the “Father of the Symphony” and “Father of the String Quartet” because of his landmark pieces in both of those styles.

It’s one of his pieces for a trio, however, that will be showcased on campus next week as a chamber music trio performs Haydn’s “Trio No. 3” at Thursday’s Music as Medicine concert in the Durham Outpatient Center West Atrium.

The concert — the last of the Music as Medicine season — starts at noon and will feature Leslie Fagan on flute, John Klinghammer on clarinet and Jim Compton on bassoon.

The trio from the Omaha Chamber Music Society will play several other selections including pieces from Darius Milhaud and Igor Stravinsky.

Bring lunch and enjoy the concert!
