Today is the last day to register for the June 14 Creative Check Up.

The conference is for employees responsible for marketing their departments, clinics or colleges through print and online mediums.

Angela Galloway, organization development consultant with OPPD, will be the morning speaker, focusing on innovative brainstorming. The “8 Secrets of Brainstorming” will be revealed and participants will learn how to accelerate the innovation process.

The keynote speaker will be Lee Aase, director of the Mayo Clinic Center for Social Media. In his presentation, Aase will share how Mayo progressed from using traditional media relations to direct-to-consumer news delivery to conversational marketing.

Other interactive sessions will include:

  • Vital Welcome — Bob Bartee, vice chancellor for external affairs, and public relations staff will provide a short presentation on UNMC’s key brand messages and how they relate to every day work.
  • Making Lemonade: Creating Cracking Content from Crummy Copy — Alex Flagg will lead discussion on turning difficult copy into a wowing web page. If you have copy you’d like to review, please email aflagg@unmc.edu by Wednesday. Names will be changed to protect the innocent — and guilty — on all entries!
  • Creative Promotion on the Cheap — Learn how to make the most of your time and dollars. Teams will be led by Bill O’Neill and UNMC staff.
  • To Tweet, or Not to Tweet: Using Social Media Well — public relations staff will guide participants through the ups-and-downs of using social media at UNMC.
  • Photography 201: How to Shoot Great Photos — Photographer Dave Hussey will review how to take dynamic shots and give participants a chance to shoot their own session!
