Twelve copies of “Help and Hope for Haiti,” which recounts stories of UNMC volunteer work in Haiti following a devastating 2010 earthquake, will be auctioned by UNMC students to raise money for the Rubens Pamies Student Senate Disaster Relief Fund.
A $1 donation is required to purchase a ticket although the student senate will accept larger donations.

The book was edited by the late Dr. Pamies, who died unexpectedly in February in his native Haiti. Dr. Pamies had served eight years as UNMC’s vice chancellor for academic affairs.

The fund supports initiatives that range from international disaster relief to local health improvement efforts. Students hope to support UNMC Japanese relief efforts with donations from the raffle.

Students who donate have a chance to win a free parking pass for next year, which is valued at $105.
