What is your best memory from your time at UNMC?
My favorite experience was the Annual Pediatric Trick or Treat Parade on Halloween.Outpatient children (and some teens) from the Ronald McDonald House, the Nebraska House and siblings participated, as well as children who have had to relocate to Omaha due to their medical needs. I was amazed at the support both from inside the hospital and academic departments, and the trick-or-treat bags were literally overflowing with prizes. All of the staff dressed up too! This event allows families to normalize the day and give the kids something fun to look forward to while making trick-or-treating memories!

I recently got involved with the student-led jail STD program, which provides STD testing, treatment and education to Douglas County inmates. This new program is important because the Douglas County STD rates are much higher than the national levels. Students who participate in the program help care for patients who would not otherwise receive the same level of STD testing and treatment. The program embodies all of UNMC’s core values. It was started by UNMC students who are committed to helping a high-risk, underserved population while giving back to the Omaha community.
List three things people may not know about you.
- The one snack I cannot refuse is chips and salsa. It’s my weakness.
- I have two younger brothers and at this time (November-December) we are 20, 21 and 22-years-old.
- During a school trip to Europe, I witnessed the filming of a James Bond movie.
