Food drive moves to the spring, kicks off with Hustle for Hunger

Because the greatest time of need at the Food Bank of the Heartland is the spring, the annual campus food drive will be held in April this year. The drive will run April 16 through May 4.

UNMC’s campus food drive kicks off on April 13 with the “Hustle for Hunger” walk/run.
As it did last November, the drive will again kick off with “Hustle for Hunger” — a campus walk/run — on Friday, April 13.

To enter, campus runners and walkers can drop off a can of food at the starting line.

What: Hustle for Hunger is a campus walk/run to start our annual drive to collect food for the Food Bank of the Heartland. Runners will tackle a three-mile course around campus while walkers will trek 1.5 miles.

When: Remarks start at 3:30 p.m. and the “Hustle” gets underway at 3:45 p.m.

Where: The event starts in the Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza and the course will run around the campus. See a course map.

Registration: Email unmcevents@unmc.edu. The registration fee is a donation for the food bank. Please bring your donated items to the event. All campuses are welcome to participate — as are non-UNMC family and friends!

Treats: Water and bananas will be provided by Sodexo for those who participate.

Even if you don’t participate, come out and cheer!
