Gilmore Award ceremony today

A ceremony to recognize Stephen Bonasera, M.D., Ph.D., assistant professor of medicine and the 2012 recipient of the Joseph P. Gilmore Distinguished New Investigator Award, will be held today at 2:30 p.m. in the Durham Research Center Auditorium.

A reception will follow in the commons area between the Durham Research Center towers.

Dr. Bonasera was honored for his investigations into how the brain ages.

The award is named for the late Joseph P. Gilmore, Ph.D., who was professor and chairman of the UNMC Department of Physiology and Biophysics from 1970 to 1987.

The award was established upon his retirement to recognize outstanding research contributions by young UNMC faculty members.
