More teaching honors for Dr. Talmon, other medicine awardees

Geoff Talmon, M.D., continued his run of teaching honors recently as he received both the Hirschmann Prize for Teaching Excellence for Basic Science Education as well as a Golden Apple teaching award.

The award comes on the heels of Dr. Talmon, assistant professor of pathology and microbiology, being named the 1962 Basic Science Outstanding Teacher award recipient at the College of Medicine AOA/Faculty Honors Convocation in March.

The Golden Apple — which was awarded by the second-year medical students — was Dr. Talmon’s third as he also received the award in 2011 and 2009.

Others who received teaching honors in the College of Medicine were:

Sarah Keim Janssen, Ph.D., assistant professor of genetics, cell biology and anatomy, who received a Golden Apple teaching award from the first-year medical students; and
Wendy Grant, M.D., associate professor of surgery and assistant dean for student affairs, who received the Hirschmann Prize for Teaching Excellence for clinical education.
