Weekly e-Tip No. 25 — 3 days left before Lotus Notes goes away

Notes email will NOT be available after this Thursday. Individuals are responsible for transferring important emails and contacts/group information out of Lotus Notes before Friday. You can forward emails to Outlook, convert emails to PDF, export your internet contacts to Outlook, or print contacts, groups, calendars to re-create in Outlook.

A few questions have been received lately pertaining to converting emails to PDF:

Problems with the PDF Option?
Some are using the PDF icon on the toolbar to convert messages and have experienced problems. From Lotus Notes, be sure use Actions > Convert messages or Folder to PDF.

Can you tell me the archive schedule so I’ll know how long my emails will remain unarchived?
The archival schedule is very unpredictable at this time due to all the contract requests we are processing. We are having to override scheduled archives to bring contract requests back and then manually rearchive them. Therefore, ITS recommends you only unarchive what you can convert that day. There is no guarantee what you unarchive today will still be unarchived tomorrow.

Can you unarchive mail for me?
This service is part of the contract option. The deadline to receive requests was April 27. then extended to May 11.

Why won’t some of my emails unarchive?
It is possible that not all email will unarchive properly. This is due to the sheer volume of data, the various Lotus Notes versions and templates that have been used over the years and the files themselves. There is no recovery that ITS can do on these files.
