Below is a list of achievements, activities and happenings involving UNMC staff, faculty and students.

The following six researchers will receive 2012 Internal Medicine Research Awards today during the department’s grand rounds at noon in the Durham Research Center Auditorium:

  • Andre Kalil, M.D., associate professor in the division of infectious diseases, will receive the Internal Medicine Clinical Research Award.
  • Tricia LeVan, Ph.D., associate professor in the division of pulmonary, critical care, sleep and allergy, will receive the Internal Medicine Basic Science Research Award.
  • Basem William, M.D., a fellow in the division of oncology/hematology, will receive the Internal Medicine Fellowship Research Award.
  • Paul Thomes, Ph.D., postdoctoral fellow in the division of gastroenterology and hepatology, will receive the Internal Medicine Postdoctoral Fellowship Research Award.
  • Isaac Berg, M.D., house officer III in the department of internal medicine, will receive the Internal Medicine Resident Research Award.
  • Anthony Cannon, a third-year medical student, will receive the Internal Medicine Medical Student Research Award.

CityMatCH — a national public health organization housed within the UNMC Department of Pediatrics — recently released a publication titled “Women’s Health Prevention Brief” that highlights the importance of addressing the built environment in order to improve maternal health and birth outcomes.
