Below is a list of achievements, activities and happenings involving UNMC staff, faculty and students.

Louise LaFramboise, Ph.D., of the College of Nursing received funding for the New Careers in Nursing Scholarship Program. The award is from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and is used to fund scholarships for accelerated bachelor’s and master’s degree students from groups underrepresented in nursing or from a disadvantaged background.

Steven Caplan, Ph.D., associate professor of biochemistry and molecular biology, has received the Thomas Maciag Award, which recognizes a RO1-funded CoBRE or IDeA award graduate who combines outstanding research with dedication to mentorship.

Funeral services will be held Saturday for Jacquelyn “Jackie” Rosenlof, a Kearney philanthropist, who along with her husband, Dr. Robert Rosenlof, provided strong support for UNMC. The services will start at 9:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Kearney. Rosenlof died June 6 after a battle with colon cancer. She was 81.

The Flatland Juggling Festival takes place this weekend at the Center for Healthy Living (CFHL). The festival starts tonight with open juggling from 5 to 8 p.m. It continues Saturday with more open juggling and juggling games in the CFHL from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A public juggling show will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday at Castle Barrett, 4330 Leavenworth St. The festival wraps up Sunday with open juggling from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Teachers will be on hand throughout the festival if you’d like to learn to juggle.
