Strum also was a Ph.D. student in the University of Nebraska at Omaha's health care informatics program and very active in the North Omaha Community Care Council.

"I always teased Rahman, saying 'look at you, half my age and twice as smart,' and he would very humbly smile and say, 'but I'm working on the wisdom part,'" said Ira Combs, community nurse coordinator in the UNMC College of Public Health's Center for Reducing Health Disparities. "A young leader, educator and motivator, Rahman will be remembered with tears and big smiles."

AHEC staff members regarded Strum as a "passionate, dedicated and determined man with a contagious laugh." Aside from his work to advocate for health at the local level, Strum also worked to improve health globally. In 2010, he was part of a group of University of Nebraska faculty and students who went to Madagascar to develop a clean water supply.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Bellevue Memorial Chapel, 2202 Hancock St. in Bellevue. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Saint Cecilia Cathedral, 701 N. 40th St. in Omaha.

Another saint has finished his race and been called to his real home in heaven. May his charming smile, his love of life stay strong in your heart and mind. May our heavenly Father soothe the pain of your loss and give you peace until that glorious day when we all will meet again.

    Psalm 27:4
Rember as Christians the one thing we all should seek and ask of the Lord- the thing we should seek most- is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord's perfections ad mediatation in his Temple.

To the family and friends of Rahman may Psalm 34 bless your heart and soul as you go through this grieving period. Psalm 34:17-19 The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from from all of their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted he resuces those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous face many troubles, but he Lord rescuses them from each and everyone one. Continue to pray…pray without ceasing. You are in my prayers and thoughts.
