What is your best memory from your time at UNMC?

Working in human resources, I have a lot of memorable moments whether it’s the camaraderie of the team, experience with our internal customers or the excitement of working with our external applicants. It is very hard to lock down on one best memory and that’s what I love about my position.

Our four brand values are leadership, commitment to excellence, working together and being a trusted resource. Pick one and tell us a time you witnessed it embodied at UNMC.

Working together — I had the great opportunity to be one of the project leads in upgrading our applicant tracking and position management system with our vendor PeopleAdmin. Everyone on our team contributed to getting the job done whether it was by taking on additional duties, working late, offering comments/suggestions and/or providing encouragement to make the project a success. The team consisted of Alice Weyant, Adam Haynes, Trish Reineke, Evelyn Grixby, Victor Holly, Kris Hammond, James Wiegel, Anthony Huerta and Sandra McKenzie who has since retired. Sandra held off her retirement date just to make sure we weren’t shorthanded and I really appreciated that. We are a great group and we enjoy our new director, Paul Knutson, who keeps us on our toes and laughing.

List three things people may not know about you.

  • I love the color “purple.”
  • I sing on a praise and worship team at church and also am the youth director of about 30 or more children.
  • My husband, Charles, and I are “amateur do-it-yourselfers.” Our last major project was gutting the kitchen to the studs two years ago and he doesn’t know it yet but our bathroom is next.
