"The Healthcare Delivery Science degree is a great option for the practicing healthcare professional who desires to obtain advanced knowledge and competencies pertaining to core administrative and leadership functions within the US healthcare system. The curriculum examines the US healthcare from a systems perspective, and is specifically designed to allow the participant to immediately apply newly acquired knowledge to their own role and workplace. Courses in management, team-science, patient-centered care, safety and quality improvement, applied bioinformatics, and leadership will prepare the healthcare professional to positively impact their area of clinical practice and assume leadership roles within the healthcare system. The Master of Healthcare Delivery Science is an innovative, online educational degree offered by the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The goal of the online program is to provide practicing healthcare professionals with advanced knowledge pertaining to core administrative and leadership competencies. The innovative curriculum focuses on five core areas identified by the National Academy of Medicine to improve health care quality and patient safety including:

  1. Providing patient-centered care
  2. Working in interdisciplinary teams
  3. Employing evidence-based practice
  4. Applying quality improvement
  5. Utilizing Informatics

Coursework is delivered by an interdisciplinary faculty team utilizing an easily accessible distance education format. Individual plans of study include required courses in the five core areas while allowing the student to further develop their area of focus through the completion of self-selected elective courses.

The Healthcare Delivery Science program was designed for professionals looking to advance in administration and leadership in the areas of public health, medicine, nursing, and other health professions. The Healthcare Delivery Science academic offerings provide prospective applicants with opportunities for an advanced graduate degree through the master’s degree plan of study or a concentrated focus of practice through one of the associated subplans: Applied Health Informatics and Healthcare Quality Improvement.
