Ice rink opens today

The UNMC skating rink opens today at 11 a.m.

Skating season at the campus ice rink kicks off today.

The rink — which will be open through March 1 — is just east of 42nd Street midway between Emile Street and Dewey Avenue on the north side of the Sorrell Center. The rink features concessions, music and seasonal decorations.

The cost for employees (and dependents who accompany them) of UNMC, UNMC Physicians, The Nebraska Medical Center and Clarkson College is $5 and includes skates. Employees also can purchase season passes for $30 each. UNMC identification badges must be presented to get the employee rates.

Hours of operation are:

Tuesday-Friday — 11 a.m.-1 p.m., 4-8 p.m.;
Saturday — 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.;
Sunday — Noon to 8 p.m.; and
Closed — Mondays, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
