Reminder: Sign up for campus alerts, FEAP provides emotional assistance

In the wake of Friday’s school shooting in Connecticut, UNMC employees and students are reminded to register and/or reregister for the UNMC Alert system, which was previously known as “e2Campus.”

To register for campus alerts, employees can:

  • Log into UNMC ESS;
  • Click UNMC ALERTS found on the banner on the next screen;
  • Click “Sign-up for UNMC Alerts”; and
  • On the E2Campus registration page enter a password (you choose), register your devices and select location(s) from which you wish to receive alerts. Then enter the validation code it sends to your device.

Modes of communication

UNMC Alert sends emergency messages to devices and addresses you designate. The messages are sent via:

  • Text messages;
  • Cell phones;
  • Email; and
  • Pop-up crawler alerts on networked computers.

UNMC Security will send emergency notices when events occur that may pose the risk of serious injury or death to those on campus. A pop up crawler alert also will be sent to networked computers.

Contact the Campus Security Office at 402-559-4439 or Campus Safety at 402-559-7315 for more information.

Emotional help

Also, employees who experienced emotional upheaval after Friday’s events can access free counseling from the Faculty Employee Assistance Program (FEAP).

FEAP counselors can help employees with issues such as job stress, family concerns, anxiety and substance abuse.

Employees are encouraged to call Susan Smith at 402-559-5323 or Marlene Schneider at 402-559-5175 to schedule a time to speak with an FEAP specialist.
