Below is a list of achievements, activities and happenings involving UNMC staff, faculty and students.
A reading of the seventh phase of the Seven Doctors Project will be held Thursday at the Slowdown at 7:30 p.m. The Seven Doctors Project is a writers’ workshop that pairs UNMC faculty members with Omaha-area writers. UNMC personnel who will read Thursday are:
- Stan Cox, associate professor of biochemistry and molecular biology;
- Cheryl Thompson, associate professor in the College of Nursing;
- Lydia Kang, assistant professor of internal medicine;
- Rebecca Wysoske, assistant professor of psychiatry;
- Mary Huerter, medical student;
- Bud Shaw, professor of surgery;
- Lea Pounds, instructor in the College of Public Health;
- Jeremy Hosein, medical student;
- Jenny Dwyer, medical student;
- Mark Darby, staff nurse at The Nebraska Medical Center;
- Nizar Wehbi, assistant professor in the College of Public Health; and
- Kris McVea, associate professor of family medicine.
James Temme, associate director and Charles R. O’Malley Chair of Radiation Science Technology Education in the School of Allied Health Professions, has received the 2012 Nebraska Community College Association Distinguished Alumni Award. Temme, who has been at UNMC for 38 years, received a degree in 1971 from Platte College in Columbus, Neb. (now known as Central Community College). He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from UNMC in 1974 and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1984.
