Wellness Wednesday: CFHL offers free week of classes beginning today

The UNMC Center for Healthy Living (CFHL) offers a variety of fitness classes that are included in the cost of membership.

Memberships are as low as $22 per month. Employees with memberships can go to as many classes as they like for no additional charge. Employees also have the option to pay a $7 per day drop in fee to use the facility or take classes.

Here’s a link to the schedule of instructor-taught classes offered.

We also have a selection of classes on video and several TVs available to view the videos in the center. They include P90x, Insanity, Focus T25, PiYo, 10-minute Trainer, Zumba and others. For a list of available videos, click here.

From today through Sept. 24, members of the UNMC community are invited to try our fitness classes for FREE!

Here’s an example of just one of the classes available during this free week — instructor-led Zumba classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Zumba is a dance-oriented fitness class that is focused on fun not choreography. The class promotes a non-judgmental, supportive group environment with the emphasis on enjoying movement. You don’t have to be a good dancer to appreciate moving to music and achieve the health and fitness benefits of regular physical activity. The class format accommodates all levels, from absolute beginners to highly conditioned regular exercisers.

A series of Zumba DVDs also are available for use at the facility.

So stop by the CFHL and take a class this week for free. You won’t earn a degree, but there are no tests and everyone gets an A for attending.

Any chance the Center for Healthy Living might add a pool someday? Aqua aerobics are a great way to stay in shape with minimal impact.
