The UNMC community hit both of its goals for the 2014 United Way of the Midlands campaign, smashing a fundraising goal of $150,000 by raising $165,837 while meeting the total campus participation goal of 50 percent.

  • School of Allied Health Professions: 100 percent
  • Human Resources: 95 percent
  • Chancellor’s Unit: 89 percent
  • College of Public Health: 88 percent
  • Business and Finance: 72 percent
  • College of Nursing: 73 percent
  • Research: 72 percent
  • Eppley Institute: 71 percent
  • Facilities Management and Planning: 69 percent
  • Student and Academic Affairs: 66 percent
  • ITS: 63 percent
  • College of Pharmacy: 58 percent
  • Munroe-Meyer Institute: 53 percent
  • College of Medicine: 38 percent

The fundraising figure makes 2014’s campaign UNMC’s most successful ever, with participation increasing in every department from 2013 to 2014.

“I am thrilled with how our campus came together in participating and donating to the United Way of the Midlands,” said Anna Kirshenbaum, UNMC public relations event coordinator, who oversaw the campuswide campaign. “We have helped out hundreds of our neighbors and friends in the community.”

Kirshenbaum said she was excited to see UNMC reach both goals on the way to the most successful United Way campaign the campus has ever had. Kirshenbaum credited department United Way coordinators for helping to drive participation increases. (See sidebar)

“The amount of people participating increased as well as the amount given,” she said. “UNMC employees are now making an even greater impact in our community.”
