Alumni Reunion Weekend takes place Oct. 20-21

Reuniting with old friends, learning about campus growth and award presentations and celebrating the College of Nursing’s centennial year will be the highlights during UNMC Alumni Reunion Weekend when more than 250 alumni and guests return to Omaha and the UNMC campus Oct. 20-21.

Alumni from the UNMC College of Medicine, College of Nursing and Graduate Studies program will participate, spanning class years ranging from 1951 to 2013.

Activities during Alumni Weekend include: walking tours of the campus including stops at the Visualization Hub, Gross Anatomy Lab, Clinical Skills Lab, the Biocontainment Unit and the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, a student poster session, a narrated Ollie the Trolley tour of Omaha, the Welcome Back Lunch, class parties across Omaha, the College of Nursing Distinguished Alumnus Award Lecture, the College of Nursing Centennial Gala, and the annual Celebration & Awards Banquet.

At the Celebration & Awards Banquet, the alumni engagement councils will recognize seven alums and one honorary alum (however, the College of Nursing alumni award recipients will receive their awards at the College of Nursing Centennial Gala). The award recipients include:

M. Patricia Leuschen, Ph.D., Class 1976; Graduate Studies Alumni Engagement Council Distinguished Alumnus Award
Thomas L. McDonald, Ph.D.; Graduate Studies Alumni Engagement Council Honorary Alumnus Award
Mary C. Sullivan, Ph.D., M.S.N. Class of 1981; College of Nursing Alumni Engagement Distinguished Alumnus Award
Douglass Haas, B.S.N. Class of 2009, M.S.N., Class of 2015; College of Nursing Alumni Engagement Council Nursing Excellence Award

Tickets are still available for both the College of Nursing Centennial Gala and the Alumni Celebration and Awards Banquet. A full schedule of reunion weekend events and information about how to register is available on the Alumni Association’s website.
