CHRI Pediatric Research Forum will be virtual

The annual Child Health Research Institute (CHRI) Pediatric Research Forum will be held virtually this year on May 7-8 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Registration for the event is available beginning Wednesday, May 6. Registration is required to gain access to Zoom information and poster viewing.

Research is essential for advancing knowledge about the cause of pediatric diseases and developing new approaches for their treatment. The posters presented at the Child Health Research Institute (CHRI) Pediatric Research Forum range from basic science to translational research, as well as community studies showcasing the institute’s commitment to help all children live healthy lives.

Thursday, May 7:

  • 4:30 p.m. — Keynote speaker: Gurudutt Pendyala, Ph.D., assistant professor, UNMC Department of Anesthesiology at UNMC, and CHRI member, will speak on “Addicted to Prescription Opioids and Expecting? What to Expect Next.”
  • 5:15 p.m. – Trainee Award Ceremony, presented by Ann Anderson Berry, M.D., interim executive director, CHRI; division chief of Neonatology at Children’s Hospital & Medical Center; and professor, UNMC Department of Pediatrics.

Friday, May 8:

  • 8 a.m. – Grand Rounds: Kimberly White, M.D., pediatrics resident, will present “Research During Residency Made Accessible”
  • 8:30 a.m. – Medical Student Award ceremony
