CyncHealth, the Great Plains IDeA-CTR, the UNMC Center for Intelligent Health Care and the Child Health Research Institute are proud to sponsor the second annual Great Plains Interoperability Conference.

This virtual conference will convene on June 7 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. CST, to link regional providers, researchers, technologists, and national experts working strategically to improve health care by advancing health data sharing.

Matthew Rizzo, MD, chair of the UNMC Department of Neurological Sciences and principal investigator for the Great Plains IDeA-CTR, will deliver the welcome address.

“It is hard to overstate the importance of health data sharing to improving patient care, from reducing redundant testing and visits to avoiding medication errors," Dr. Rizzo said. "Interoperability also dramatically enhances research opportunities.”

Regional and national experts in health data sharing will highlight critical efforts to advance regional interoperability and connect with national efforts.

Presentations during the event will include:

  • Jaime Bland, DNP, president and CEO of CyncHealth, speaking on the "State of the States: Efforts in Datasharing Across Nebraska and Iowa."
  • Lew Berman, PhD, deputy chief technology officer for the All of Us Research Program at the National Institutes of Health, speaking on “Utilizing Data Linkages to Acquire Missing EHR Data on the All of Us Research Program.”
  • Student presentations from the CyncHealth internship program.
  • Jacques Bou Abdo, PhD, assistant professor of cyber systems at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, speaking on "Cybersecurity Concerns with Health Data Sharing."
  • A panel discussion on "Governance of Emerging Technologies in Health and Medicine."

The event, which will be held via Zoom, is free. See more information and register here.
