The Gold U is given six times a year to employees who consistently deliver outstanding performance and service to UNMC.

Recipients of the Gold U are honored at a breakfast with UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., and receive:

  • A Gold U pin;
  • An art glass paperweight hand-blown by Kliszewski Glass;
  • A $100 cash award;
  • A UNMC Gold U certificate signed by Dr. Maurer;
  • An invitation to the Annual Service Award Dinner in June;
  • Recognition at a Board of Regents meeting that includes a Board of Regents “Kudos” certificate, signed by University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken; and
  • A career development award of up to $2,500.
